Valencia Street Vietnamese joint MAU reopened on Wednesday.

Nadim Heto, the restaurant’s general manager, said all the employees were invited back, and many returned. That includes the restaurant’s chef, Kai Dang, who returned from Saigon and Da Lat, Vietnam, with fresh culinary ideas.

“We’ve kept the food that you love and are introducing new favorites,” Heto said.

Mau closed in late September after five years in business, ostensibly due to a rent increase. Shortly thereafter, at the beginning of October, a new sign appeared in the window, announcing that the restaurant had reached a deal with its landlord and would reopen.
