Following Grub’s silent exit from Valencia Street in late August, the space that briefly housed the popular brunch locale has already landed a new tenant – Souvla, a “casual Greek sandwich shop and wine bar,” is set to open its doors at 758 Valencia St. in early 2017.
Described as “fine casual” dining, Souvla’s menu is rather simple, featuring classics such as Greek salads, pita sandwiches, and rotisserie meats served in wraps, with traditional twists like Greek frozen yogurt and a selection of all-Greek beverages.
Souvla first opened its doors in 2014 in Hayes Valley, and expanded to NoPa earlier this year. Now targeting the Mission’s foodie demographic, CEO Charles Bililies called the newly acquired Valencia location a “sweet spot for us,” as it is part of a “dynamic neighborhood, and on a block that is developing with such incredible brands and businesses.”
Once open for business, Souvla will be serving from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Update: Grub’s owner, Kamal Naser, writes:
“Charles loved my location and made me a great offer. It was a good opportunity for him and an excellent opportunity for me to consolidate and enjoy time with my family. Grub was a solid business but as I get older I value my time with my family over wealth.”

Just curious what happened to the original owners of Grub? The people that first opened in 2010? It looked like they were doing and ok business. Why did they sell it to this person Kamel?
