The owner of West of Pecos, Dylan MacNiven, seems to be in on purchasing Cafe Du Nord, according to

Original rumors were that the musical fate of the venue was unclear. But the showroom will live another day! MacNiven wrote in an email to SF Weekly:

“I am intending for live music to stay [at Cafe Du Nord]… Once the hall re-opens, my ultimate goal would be to have a better live music experience than exists now.”

So now we can expect even BETTER from the place that won the 2013 Nitey award for Best Live Music Venue (for venues under 400). But not until after renovations are completed — and we don’t know yet when that will be.
