Daylight and the big police station at 17th and Valencia streets failed to deter two suspected thieves from pushing a woman to the ground on Tuesday at 6:44 p.m. and taking her smartphone.

It was a short chase.

A witness ran after the suspects, who fled on foot, and pointed the police in the right direction. Officer Gordon Shyy said two men in their 20s were nabbed by the cops roughly four blocks away near 19th and Lexington streets. The pilfered phone was recovered.
