The city continues to play chicken with the state about its housing mandate. 45 minutes before the supes met yesterday, SF received a “corrective action” letter saying that unless changes to the city’s plan are made by December 28, the state will impose penalties. Annika Hom analyzes what’s at stake.
It was really chilly this week— and the heat’s still not working at all the City College campuses where students had to bring blankets and handwarmers to classrooms last year. Despite promises to fix the problems, supply chains and budgetary issues are still delaying repairs.
City commissioner William Palmer had his preliminary hearing yesterday on sexual assault charges. SF police testified his victim told them she was punched in the face and strangled before escaping. Palmer has not stepped down from his posts, and members of the community group United Playaz came to court to support him.
