Just 12 days left– and we’re 76% of the way to our goal!

Good afternoon!

Four children aged 13-17 filed a long-promised class-action suit today against the city, its police chief, Mission Stationโ€™s police captain and a tactical squad lieutenant over SFPDโ€™s crackdown at this summerโ€™s Dolores Park Hill Bomb. Read Mission Local’s reports from the chaotic event, when scores of cops in riot gear corralled and arrested 117 people, 83 of them children.

We’ve got some holiday treats for you: Lydia Chรกvez, Mission Local’s executive editor, reprises her 2010 video on how to make New Mexican cocktail-sized chiles rellenos. (Just be sure to get that meat really dry.) Bonus: Lydia’s essay explaining Evelyn and Geraldine’s no-nonsense rules about the right way to do everything. These women do not mess around.

Neither does Lenore Estrada, the extremely busy “last babe standing” of Three Babes Bakeshop, is taking orders for holiday pies and a cookie sampler featuring Mexican wedding cookies. Expect excellence.

More soon,

Sara

Mission Local won awards at the Institute for Nonprofit News and the Society of Professional Journalists this year. We have consistently broken important stories, and delivered in-depth, timely news to the Mission and San Francisco โ€” but this work isn’t free.
Our independent, nonprofit newsroom is supported by hundreds of locals. Now we are asking for your help. We’re in the final stretch of our year-end fundraising campaign-โ€”donate now, and your gift will be doubled.
Thank you for your support. Just as you, our readers, depend on us, we depend on you.
