Good afternoon!

We share the criminal complaint and affadavit in the corruption case of Lanita Henriquez, the city grants director who pled not guilty yesterday at her arraignment. Henriquez allegedly engaged in a kickback scheme, diverting $1.4 million of public money to fixer Dwayne Jones.

For his part, Dwayne Jones declined to enter a plea, and the judge put off his arraignment until mid-September. In return for landing contracts, the politically-connected consultant allegedly paid nearly $33,000 to Henriquez, whom he’d dated, and nearly $157,000 to her โ€œfamily members and close associates.

While you discuss the city’s problems, how about a drink at Casements? Questions of policy, planning, and what to do with all those empty downtown spaces might be easier to swallow with an Irish Mule.

More soon,

Sara
