A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle near Mission and Park streets in Bernal Heights Saturday night. The driver involved fled the scene, San Francisco police said, and has not been located.
“At approximately 8:18 p.m., officers responded to Mission and Park streets regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian,” the San Francisco Police Department wrote in a statement.
“Officers arrived on scene and located an injured pedestrian. Officers rendered aid and medics arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to the hospital for life threatening injuries. The vehicle and driver involved did not remain at the scene.”
This collision comes after six people were injured in a three-vehicle accident last night at Park Presidio Boulevard and California Street. A July report from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency found that severe injury collisions in the first half of 2026 had increased by around 8 percent compared to the same period last year. So far this year, there have been over 300 traffic crashes resulting in injuries involving pedestrians.
