An Uber driver was cited this evening for causing a silver Ford Mustang to swerve into the center divider on Guerrero Street between 21st and 22nd streets.

No one was injured in the car crash that took place at around 5:20 p.m.

Alberto Ramos, the driver of the Mustang, said he was driving south down Guerrero Street when he saw a Toyota Corolla pulling out onto the street. He swerved out of the way, hitting a tree in the center divider and crushing the hood of his car.

“Someone in the [Corolla] pulled out without signaling, and I tried to avoid him,” Ramos said. “Incredibly, I wasn’t going that fast — I probably would have ended up in someone’s house.”

Ramos said he was going no more than 30 miles per hour.

The driver of the Corolla, who called himself Max, said he was an Uber driver and that he had just dropped off passengers at a Guerrero address. He said he had already pulled out and moved several car lengths ahead when Ramos moved into his lane and caused the crash.

Nevertheless, Max said he was cited by police. Police said he was at fault.

Max said he had only been driving for Uber for a month.
