Man Robbed at Knifepoint and Vehicle Collision

Police report a man was robbed at 16th and Mission Wednesday at 8 p.m. when two male suspects, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s or 40s, approached the victim and demanded his cell phone. One suspect snatched the cell phone from the victim’s hands before both proceeded to kick the victim in the leg. They then brandished a knife and threatened to kill the victim, before fleeing on foot.

The victim suffered pain to the leg but did not seek treatment. Only his cell phone was stolen.

Vehicle Collision

At around 10 p.m. last night, neighbors report hearing a car collision on 22nd Street between Folsom and South Van Ness, apparently between a parked UPS truck and a second driver. Though police and fire trucks reportedly responded, neighbors said the drivers of the truck were apparently not injured and the condition of the car driver was unclear.

The car, said one neighbor who didn’t wish to be named, lost its door and hubcap in the collision and drove into Shotwell street before pulling in to a driveway across the street on South Van Ness. Another resident said she had heard loud scraping, as though a damaged car were moving across the street.

“I had already gone to bed,” said Silvia Ramirez, a resident of 22nd Street. “I just heard ‘boom!’”

“I heard a big bang and then my son came home and said there had been a crash with a UPS truck,” said neighbor Araceli Martinez.

Several other neighbors reported hearing a loud crash, but it could not be confirmed that the UPS truck was not in motion.

“There was literally like ten cop cars, an ambulance, fire trucks…it was insane,” said the anonymous neighbor.

Police were not immediately available for comment.
