A sunny afternoon in Dolores park apparently wasn’t warm enough for one visitor, who ended up in the hot seat when he was arrested for tree arson.

The 37-year-old man apparently lit the base of a palm tree on fire with a lighter around 3 p.m. on Thursday.  Police showed up and arrested him. The tree was partially burned, but nobody was injured.

Robbery: 7/23/15, 2:00 a.m.

Late Wednesday night, or rather early Thursday morning, a man of unknown age approached a 28-year-old man on Valencia near McCoppin Hub from behind and knocked him to the ground. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and passport, as well as his shoes, and left him barefoot and bruised on the sidewalk before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s face was bruised and he suffered a laceration on his forehead, but refused medical attention and was reported to be in non-life-threatening condition. No arrest was made.
