After a week of high speed chases through the Mission, the San Francisco Police Department reports that the work week is coming to a close with two robberies, occurring yesterday afternoon and early today.
A tense scene unfolded at 16th and Potrero Avenue Thursday at around 3 p.m., when a man described to be in his 20s pushed a 37-year-old woman against a bus shelter, took her purse and ran off. Not taking the theft lightly, the woman and another bystander chased after the suspect as he tried to escape down 16th Street. The woman eventually caught up with the man and had a brief tussle, but he escaped with her property.
Early Friday morning, another woman was forcibly robbed near the corner of Mission and 26th Street. A little before 3 a.m., a man came about behind the the 32-year-old woman and pushed her to the sidewalk. He took off not only with her backpack, but also with her shoes.
