Alexander Malachi, who recovered from a stroke and in the process discovered Tree and the Free Food Stand, started the Rooftop Garden at Mission High School earlier this year.
His goal was to encourage growth in a space that was otherwise dormant. Principal Eric Guthertz loved Malachi’s proposal and he, along with students, have been cultivating the space ever since.
Justin Richmond has been educated all over California, including Orange County, Los Angeles and Berkeley. It’s an experience, he says, that will help him cover community colleges and high schools. He's particularly excited to explore how the Mission's schools reflect the Mission.
