The body found at SF General Hospital Tuesday at 10 a.m. has been identified as 57-year-old Lynne Spalding, who had gone missing from her hospital bed Sept. 21.

Spalding, a San Francisco resident who was being treated for a severe urinary tract infection, was believed to have walked away from her bed on her own accord. She was found on a rarely used external stairwell.

The hospital and San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, which led the investigation, held a press conference at 11 a.m. today.
