Mission-based director, H.P. Mendoza, has released a well-acclaimed horror film that is scheduled to screen at The Castro Theatre next week.

I Am a Ghost tells the story of Emily, a ghost trapped in her Victorian home, who uncovers her past with the assistance of a clairvoyant.

“I fell in love with the idea of a movie that wandered throughout a house following a ghost through her memories,” said Mendoza in his director’s statement.

The film has been on the festival circuit for a year, but was just formally released this month.

Ghost has already won numerous local and international awards including SF Weekly’s Best New Horror Director. It was also included on the National Film Society’s Top 10 Films of 2012 and Asia Pacific Arts Best Films of 2012.

I Am a Ghost screens at The Castro Theatre on Oct. 29th at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
