As the 11:59 p.m. deadline gets closer every second, it seems as though a BART strike is inevitable.

Ugh, right? The last shutdown of the Bay Area’s only comprehensive transit system (sort of) crippled the region, as thousands were forced to hack their way to work and other commitments with a combination of other transit systems, walking, waiting and undoubtedly experiencing profound frustration.

This one, authorities say, would be even worse.

Negotiations between the agency and unions were back and forth late into Wednesday night, and talks resumed today at noon.
