Sf Examiner reports that Mayor Ed Lee recently launched an “entrepreneurship-in-residence” program at City Hall in an effort to involve the tech industry in local government and civic affairs. According to a statement by former Yahoo executive Rahul Mewawalla, “Lee is looking for significant innovation and growth in areas of pressing importance such as data, mobile and cloud services; health care; education; transportation; energy; and infrastructure.”
The article also mentions that Lee benefited from his Silicon Valley connections in the 2011 Mayoral elections, and has since been a driving force behind tax breaks for tech companies.
