The rain has left 5,000 Bay Area residents without power, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. And you can expect the rain to continue through the weekend.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, the San Francisco Planning Commission is recommending that personal care businesses, such as salons and tattoo parlors be allowed to apply for third-floor space on Valencia Street. Supervisor David Campos is also considering the idea of capping the amount of restaurants on Valencia Street.

And Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi’s job is secure, for now. SF Weekly reports that efforts to recall the Sheriff aren’t gaining traction. Mirkarimi plead guilty earlier this year to a misdemeanor following a New Year’s Eve incident where Mirkarimi grabbed his wife’s arm.
