The Chronicle reports that Dungeness crabs are looking very large and healthy this year, but they may be fewer in number and their market cost has yet to be determined. Thursday marks the start of the commercial crab season, and with prices still pending, fisherman, buyers and cooks are all waiting anxiously to see if boats will head out on Wednesday to bring in the season’s first catch. Last year fisherman and buyers couldn’t agree on a price for two weeks, which delayed the crab season. Read more here.
