A man was injured as he worked on the roof of a residential building under construction, said Fire Department Battalion Chief Kirk Richardson.
The man was using a torch when the exterior of the building caught fire. Firefighters responded and contained the small blaze before it spread to adjacent buildings.
The worker suffered minor burns to his knee, but refused to be transported to the hospital and treated himself, said Richardson.
The incident occurred a little after 8 a.m. on Lapidge between 18th and 19th streets. Lapidge is currently closed to traffic, but should be open by 10:30 a.m., said Richardson.
