The much-anticipated Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen opened today in the Mission, taking the final step in its evolution from a roaming pop-up to a permanent restaurant.

The deli will bake its own bread and make its own pastrami for the sandwich selections. It also serves traditional Jewish favorites like lox, matzo ball soup and chicken liver.

People flocked to the deli at lunchtime on Friday, with lines already out the door by 11:30 a.m. The new spot is at 3150 24th St., at Shotwell, and closes at 6 p.m. The Mission restaurant will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays (Wise Sons is still doing business at the Ferry Building on Tuesdays).
