There will be a community open house to review the Dolores Park improvement plan on Feb. 29, and your feedback is welcome.
After months of community meetings, plans approved by residents were presented to the Arts Commission recently, and landscape architects are now working on the design. The plans call for removing the clubhouse, adding paths and building two restrooms and a multi-use building under the tennis courts.
The open house will take place on Feb. 29 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mission High School cafeteria, 3750 18th St.
And in other park news, the Helen Diller Playground Renovation is now 85 percent complete, according to the Recreation and Park Department. In early February, crews installed a new pedestrian bridge. They’re also planting trees, working on irrigation and setting up precast boats and crawl tubes for the playground.
Robert Brust of Dolores Parks Works says that planning is now underway for a grand opening party for the new playground in early March, despite recent vandalism.
According to the parks department, contractors also poured the last series of concrete flatwork, and the lighting is almost complete.
