A group of six women assaulted a shirtless man last night at about 12:30 a.m. near the corner of 19th and Mission streets, witnesses said.

The women, in their late 20s, were cruising down Mission Street in a limousine when they decided to make a pit stop. The half-naked man approached and struck the back of the limo, one witness wrote in an e-mail.

As the driver checked his vehicle for damages, the women got out and chased after the shirtless man.

The women, who were intoxicated, fought with the man for several minutes until police arrived, said Juan Garcia, 22, who watched the action from inside La Taqueria Cancún across the street.

The owner of a nearby bar, who wished to remain nameless, referred to the incident as a “drunk ruckus.”

He said that he is more concerned about gangs than random acts of drunken violence.

“The limo thing, that’s benign,” he said. “The worst it will do is wake someone up.”

No one was seriously injured and no arrests have been made.

The Mission District has always been Ryan Loughlin’s favorite neighborhood in the City. The tacos of La Taqueria remind him of the food that his host mother used to cook when he was living in Guanajuato, Mexico. As a crime reporter he is getting to know the other side of the area. No, he is not scared (yet). On the contrary, he wants to learn more about all the community organizations that work with kids to keep them off the streets.
