When a 25-year-old woman approached him at 16th and Mission streets just after midnight Tuesday, the 30-year-old man agreed to accompany the woman upstairs to her hotel room, police reported.

Instead of a romantic tryst, however, a 34-year-old male joined the couple and demanded money. The woman turned on her companion, searched him and took his cash.

Fearing for his safety, the victim ran out of the room and called the police. Both suspects were taken into custody.

Later, Around 12:50 a.m. two men at 16th and Valencia streets got into a physical fight.

During the course of the fight, one used a broken glass bottle to stab the 19-year-old victim once in the chest and once in the groin. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening stab wounds at SF General Hospital.
