Police arrested a 43-year-old man after he allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed a 39-year-old woman on the corner of 18th and Lexington early this morning.
Police reports initially stated that the victim was approached around 2:52 a.m. by a suspect who demanded her money. When she refused, he grabbed her purse and a struggle ensued. The suspect took cash from her purse and fled. Officers located the suspect in the area.
During the course of the investigation, police discovered that it was a sexual assault case, said San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Albie Esparza.
The suspect remains in custody and the incident is currently being investigated by the SFPD Sex Crimes Unit.
