When a stranger asks, “Can I bum a cigarette?” it might be best to run.

Suspects asked a 24-year-old man the cigarette question Friday night and for at least the fourth time this year, the person ended up a victim, robbed of his money, according to police.

The latest incident happened around 8:10 p.m. on Alabama and Mariposa streets. After asking for a cigarette, the suspects demanded the man’s money. When he refused, a suspect pushed him to the ground and took his wallet, containing cash, and his watch.

The suspects, both described as 25-year-old men, fled on foot. No arrests have been made.

A 30-year-old woman was stabbed and robbed Saturday night, according to police.

The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, fled the scene.

The victim was transported to SF General Hospital, where she was treated for her non-life-threatening injuries.
