When a California Highway Patrol officer stopped to break up a fight at 23rd and Mission Streets around 8:30 p.m. Friday, the two suspects — one of whom stabbed a man in the shoulder — tried to flee the scene by car.

Police blocked the getaway car, but one of the suspects managed to escape and hop into a taxi. The taxi was pulled over by police in the 1000 block of Ocean Avenue.

Police declined to say how they knew to stop the taxi.

Both suspects are in custody, and the victim was transported to SF General Hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound in his shoulder.

Police are still investigating the shooting of an officer outside of nightclub El Rincon on Saturday night. The officer, who was trying to break up a fight, was shot in the foot. Police have asked any witnesses to the incident to call the SFPD confidential tip line, 415-575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 (847411), keyword “SFPD” in the text field, followed by the message.
