The weekend officially begins when work is over today which means that Pride Weekend is here, and we’re even closer to the big Sunday parade. Until then there’s plenty happening. The Trans March festivities begin at 3 p.m. at Dolores Park today. At 7 p.m. the Trans culture celebration will march to El Rio. For more event information check out the official website.
And if you’re looking for somewhere to dine during the Pride Festival you can stay in the area. Mission Loc@l has mapped out a few places for you here. Avoid those long lines on Valencia and 18t and give Mission Street a try. Our friends at Burrito Justice have already ventured out.
Mission District riders might be left struggling to find ways to work if BART employees decide to strike. Contracts for BART employee unions expire at midnight Tuesday. Though mediation was requested, it doesn’t assure that any common ground will be met by Tuesday. San Francisco Chronicle’s Rachel Gordon reported.
And the streets of the Mission District are still buzzing with music and chatter about the recent death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Expect to hear “Pretty Young Thing,” “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” on repeat during all those marches this weekend.
And of course Mission Loc@l had to give the readers a little something before the Dyke March kicks off tomorrow. Reporter Rigoberto Hernandez got the lowdown on all the excitement building up to the event, read his story today and then check out Stefania Rousselle’s official coverage of the march on Saturday.
