Congrats to @Plug1 and Plug2 of WhatImSeeing.com for having several shots up tonight in the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) exhibit 5 Blocks. Artists were asked to submit images within five blocks of their homes. The show is going on now at Mariposa and Bryant. Best of luck!

While you’re at it, check out WhatImSeeing’s latest post, with several shots of the Mission, including one of the Swoon mural on Hampshire and 24th streets.

While we’ve seen a significant downturn in the Bay Area economy, the Chronicle reports that most Bay Area residents still find California a pretty darn nice place to live, according to a new Field Poll. The same can’t be said for residents of counties in the Central Valley and further south, with only 41 percent of Californians as a whole calling California “one of the best places to live.”

Mission Loc@l received notice last night that the Inner Mission Beer Parlor is changing its name to Shotwell’s. It’s got a nice ring to it, don’t you think? Go celebrate the opening of the new bar on April 1. To quote the bar, “Beer specials will flow all night long.” ‘Nuff said.
