This is a couple of days old, but Old Jerusalem cafe is a great place, and as Vegansaurus says in their post, they have some of the tastiest falafel around. Also, for those who do like to consume marinated dead flesh, the hummos with meat dishes are great. For an authentic dessert, they even have kunafi!
One thing I don’t get in the Vegansaurus is that the last falafel sandwich I had at Old Jerusalem actually had french fries and eggplant, along with some cucumbers, tomato and hummos to boot. Any other Middle Eastern places that people are fond of?
Meanwhile, the American Apparel debate rages on, and Stop American Apparel has posted a list of local businesses not afraid to speak out against the proposed AA on Valencia Street.
SFist has also posted the results of a poll that show nearly 40 percent (San Francisco, not Mission District) residents ambivalent about the store, but would prefer the return of the old KFC. Do these people realize there’s a Popeye’s around the corner? Hmm…which brings to mind – where else in the Mission can you get halfway decent fried chicken?
Also, SFGate reports that Mission resident Teresa Sheehan, 56, who apparently was shot several times by police on Aug. 7, 2008 while advancing towards officers with a knife, will not be retried after the jury deadlocked at her trial.

Gaelen – oops good point. Thanks for the correction.
Hmm I’d be disappointed too, french fries and eggplant really make a good falafel sandwich. I wish they’d put some pickles in there too, and some crushed red pepper would really make it sing!
The SFist poll is technically 40 percent of anyone who answered the poll on the internet, not necessarily SF residents. I just felt the need to point this out in the name of statistical accuracy.
You know, none of the falafel sandwiches I’ve had from Old Jerusalem has ever come with eggplant or french fries, and I had one just a couple weeks ago. Maybe you are luckier than me.
