A 51-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after stabbing a 22-year-old woman in the hand near 16th Street and Potrero Avenue.

The woman was sitting on a Muni bus when the suspect sat down next to her and spread his legs wide, police said. The woman felt uncomfortable, so she got up and stood next to the rear door.

Police reported that the man stood up next to her and started yelling in her ear.

When the bus stopped, the man pushed past the victim and got off the bus before her. The woman pushed the man back, according to police.

Police said that the man then turned around and stabbed the woman in the hand with a fork. The suspect fled the scene but was later found by officers and taken into custody.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including lacerations to the thumb, and was taken to Davies Hospital.

The incident happened at about 4:59 p.m. on Monday.

  1. Helene,

What is the suspect’s name? Can you get his mugshot? What do you think about making a mugshot section on ML? Put all mission criminals on it, especially scammers.

  2. Out of curiosity: if this happened at 16th and Potrero, why was the victim taken to Davies instead of SFGH 6 blocks away?

    1. I’m not sure, the police didn’t say why she was taken to Davies instead of SF General.
