Twenty women who were detained in San Francisco’s jail have filed a federal class-action lawsuit against the city, the sheriff’s department, and individual deputies over an alleged mass strip search last year. Abigail Vรขn Neely reports on the case.

Congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti has put almost $10 million into his campaign, reports Io Yeh Gilman, and has said he’ll spend whatever it takes to secure second place facing Scott Weiner in November. His rival, Connie Chan, is neck-and-neck with him in the polls.
