A woman on a scooter in the Valencia center bike lane was hit by a car making an illegal U-turn. Be careful out there.
Custodians, public safety officers and dispatchers at City College voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike yesterday, and teachers, librarians and counselors are moving toward their own vote. Both groups say they’re frustrated with stalled contract negotiations and understaffing.
Meanwhile, the union for faculty at state schools has asked its members across California for a strike authorization. Teachers at SF State, where deep staffing cuts are planned, say they need raises just to keep up with inflation.
And a second contentious group housing project with dorm-like rooms won approval yesterday, after years of opposition from Mission groups. Under new laws, it will cut its affordability requirement from 25% to 15%.
