It’s end-of-year giving season—and we have matching funds.

Good morning!

Vendors protested against the city yesterday after a 90-day ban on Mission St. sidewalk selling began. Public Works inspectors and cops patrolled the street and the BART plazas to move sellers along; some vendors said they’d try their luck on other streets, or come back to Mission St. later.

We’ve got a map showing where sidewalk vendors have gone. The city opened a new indoor space for sellers at Mission and 17th, and another in the parking lot at Capp and 24th, but there’s not enough room for all. We’ll let you know the other, unofficial places vendors are popping up.

Over at City Hall, supervisors delayed passage of a state-mandated housing plan, saying it needed changes to guarantee affordability. Opponents said the supes were putting the city in danger of losing funding and control over local development.

If you’re donating to Mission Local today, thank you!

More soon,

Sara
