Good afternoon!

Ooof, the Valkyries lost today. But they’re coming back home to Balhalla Saturday, writes Meg Shutzer, for the game that will determine the winner of the WNBA Finals. Meg also reports on the highly contagious “Valk-itis” that swept the city during the early-morning game. Fabulous photos by Zoe Malen.

Just days before the election, the union behind the California billionaire tax has been hit by a strike from its own campaign staff. Brandon Pho reports that SEIU-UHW workers are now on the picket line instead of phone-banking and precinct-walking for Prop. 40, which is facing stiff opposition from wealthy donors.

Meanwhile, real-estate money is flooding the fight against San Francisco’s Prop. I, which would support social housing and lock in the transfer tax rate for properties worth over $10 million. Andrea Jimรฉnez looks at the developers, real-estate tycoons, investors and others who’ve raised $2.7 million to defeat the measure.

Remember, Mission Local‘s comprehensive election coverage includes a complete voter guide to all the measures, money, and candidates in the races. And if you need a break, check out this new interactive map of Halloween events and car-free trick-or-treating streets by Xueer Lu and Rosina Boehm.

More soon,

Sara
