Good afternoon!

Rodrigo Santos has been sentenced to 30 months in prison. The former city official and permit expediter kept doing business at DBI, even after corruption probes made him persona non grata. The judge noted “RoDBIgo” Santos’ long pattern of being caught in wrongdoing, asking forgiveness, and doing it again.

If you read the report by the billionaire-funded Together SF, you saw its claim that the Supes, the city charter, and commissions keep the mayor from governing. Joe Eskenazi debunks the myths, and shows how Mayor Breed has, in fact, failed to use her immense power.

As a new semester begins, City College is fixing the boilers at its Mission and John Adams campuses, in part thanks to our coverage of staff and student complaints about icy classrooms. But a slow start and complicated repairs mean students in some buildings at the Ocean Campus will be left in the cold again.

Enjoy the weekend, and don’t forget to reserve your tickets for Joe Eskenazi’s conversation with Supervisor Dean Preston at Manny’s on Tuesday!

More soon,

Sara
