A Federal judge in California ruled that ICE can no longer arrest immigrants at courthouse hearings, or detain them for over 12 hours in short-term holding cells. The ban applies to the entire country, reports Abigail Vรขn Neely, and is a win for Bay Area civil rights groups that were part of the class-action suit.

After a year without any local pharmacy, the 35,000 residents of Bayview will finally be getting one, writes Marina Newman. The D10 Community Pharmacy will be run by Bayview Senior Services, which also spearheaded the neighborhood’s free grocery store.

Juan Gonzales, the founder of El Tecolote and chair of the journalism department at City College, is retiring at 79โ€”though he plans to keep working. Nicholas David writes about his impact on generations of San Francisco reporters and neighborhood papers.
