Our end-of-year fundraising campaign has matching funds!

Good afternoon! We’ve got some cops-and-crime news from the Mission:

BART police handcuffed a woman at the 24th Street station this morning, after her lighter was mistaken for a gun. After being searched and released, the woman showed her bloodied wrist to Mission Local, and officers photographed the injury.

Yesterday, U.S. marshals raided a home on 20th between Shotwell and Folsom, accompanied by SFPD officers. One man was taken into custody. Marshals and police had no comment on the caseโ€”stay tuned for updates.

And don’t forget to check our map of Mission Street vendors, which we update during the week to show where police, DPW workers, and sidewalk sellers appearโ€”or disappear.

More soon,

Sara

P.S. Thank you to everyone who’s donated during our matching campaign! We’re more than halfway to our year-end goal.

Mission Local ‘s reporting has won awards from the Institute for Nonprofit News and the Society of Professional Journalists. We consistently deliver in-depth, timely news to the Mission and San Francisco โ€” but this work isn’t free.
We’re supported by hundreds of locals who give anything from $5 to $500 a month. We are asking for your help; if you donate before the end of the year, your contribution will be doubled by a matching fund.
Many thanks to those whoโ€™ve already stepped up their contributions. Just as you, our readers, depend on us, we depend on you.
