The smallest comic book store in all the known universe could be located right here in the Mission. Sketch Smith, the owner of Hella Novella off 19th and Mission St., is submitting her tiny comic book shop to the Guinness Book of World Records for the title and record holder of world’s smallest comic store.

René Yañez’s son, Rio, exhibits father’s personal sketchbooks

Tucked into the corner of Thacher Art Gallery’s ‘Studio Misión: the Art Studio as Medium,’ sits an empty wooden work table and chair. Before his death at age 75 in May 2018, renowned Mission District artist René Yañez had planned for this gallery space, located on the University of San Francisco campus at 2130 Fulton Street, to be a workspace where he would create art to be displayed on the walls.
