One person is in life-threatening condition after a stabbing in the Mission District on Sunday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
At 3:15 p.m., police officers went to 19th and Mission streets to respond to a fight, the department said. Sunday was Carnaval in the Mission, and thousands thronged the streets all weekend. That intersection is on the parade route.
The officers found a victim “suffering from an apparent stab wound,” provided medical aid, and called an ambulance, the department said. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, SFPD said.
Officers subsequently found a suspect who matched a description they were given, a few blocks away, at 24th and Mission streets, police said. The suspect, 24-year-old Raymundo Rodriguez of San Jose, was booked for attempted murder and conspiracy.
All information is preliminary. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.ย

I was there. Saw the guy bring out the knife and head over to the fight (which was already ongoing between half a dozen women and men half a block away from him). Took my wife by the arm and crossed the street needless to say. Donโt think I could pick him out of a lineup though, my eyes were all on the knife.
It’s shaping up to be a hot summer in the Mission. That was the second stabbing that occurred in a week. The other happened at 16th and Mission last Thursday.
I wondered if original headline would survive. Nope.
