With Super Bowl LX festivities in full swing this weekend, there is no shortage of football-themed events, parties and concerts around San Francisco and the wider Bay Area to immerse yourself in.
But if you don’t know who’s playing and don’t care to find out, San Francisco still has plenty of options. From Bad Bunny lookalike contests and experimental theatre shows to monthly art walks and neighborhood cleanups, here’s a guide to what’s happening around the city for those sitting out the Super Bowl.
Magnolia Bloom at San Francisco Botanical Garden
The San Francisco Botanical Garden announced last week that the first of its more than 200 rare and historic magnolia trees is in peak bloom.
The garden is hosting special magnolia-themed programming including a gourd-carving workshop with magnolia motifs, magnolia-sketching sessions with science illustrator Sami Chang, and a magnolia field guide creation workshop. Check out the 2026 Magnificent Magnolias Map for a self-guided highlights walk.
When: Open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Peak bloom is expected to last two to three weeks.

‘Hearts in San Francisco‘ at the Ferry Building (final weekend)
Catch the final weekend of the 2026 Hearts in San Francisco heart sculptures on display at the Ferry Building.
The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation commissioned 21 heart sculptures from Bay Area artists, which will be auctioned off on Feb. 12 to support Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The colorful sculptures are displayed throughout the Ferry Building for the public to enjoy before the auction.

Free First Thursdays at the Museum of Craft and Design
Visit the Museum of Craft and Design for free this Thursday and catch the final days of two current exhibitions.
“Wunderkammer: The Collection of Susan Beech” features nearly 100 pieces from Beech’s collection of art jewelry, while “Judith Schaechter: Super/Natural” explores natural elements and patterns through stained glass. The museum offers free admission on the first Thursday of every month.

Bad Bunny lookalike contest and lotería night
Channel your inner Benito at this Bad Bunny-themed night hosted by Mission Lotería at the Valencia location of Tacolicious. The night will feature a lookalike contest, a special food and drink menu, and reggaeton-style lotería, a traditional Mexican board game similar to bingo. Contest winners receive $100 cash and a Tacolicious gift card.

Pay-what-you-can Taco Day at Tato
Enjoy tacos on a pay-what-you-can basis every Friday, including this week, at Tato in Bayview. Each taco plate comes with two tacos, plus rice and beans. Pay what you can — but if you pay $10, Tato will donate a meal to a nearby school, health clinic or community organization.

North Beach First Fridays Art Crawl
Explore North Beach’s galleries, museums, bars and restaurants during the monthly First Fridays art walk.
More than a dozen venues stay open late with special events, art exhibitions, live music and performances throughout the neighborhood. This month features Valentine’s Day-themed events including candle crafting at P.F. Candle Co., live jazz, poetry readings and open houses at Club Fugazi and other venues. SF Neo-Futurists’ ‘The Infinite Wrench‘
Watch the San Francisco Neo-Futurists race against the clock to perform 30 original plays in 60 minutes.
The experimental theater collective presents bite-sized plays ranging from personal stories to political commentary, with the audience determining the order. Each week, the ensemble swaps out several plays for new works, so no two shows are exactly alike.
When: Feb. 6-7

Todavía Estamos Aquí: Community and Resistance in Puerto Rico
The San Francisco Public Library and University of San Francisco’s International and Multicultural Education program are screening two short documentaries about Puerto Rico’s response to Hurricane Maria and grassroots rebuilding efforts.
The program includes a post-screening discussion with filmmakers and community activists about long-term government inaction and community-led survival strategies.

SFMoMA: Sports Pennants at Family Studio
As part of SFMoMA’s Family Sundays, design and make sports team pennants at the Family Studio’s drop-in art session in collaboration with SCRAP. All Family Studio activities are free and include a book raffle, space to play with blocks and children’s books to browse.
When: Feb. 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Manny’s Neighborhood Trash Cleanup
Join a weekly neighborhood cleanup with Refuse Refuse San Francisco and Manny’s to keep the Mission clean.
Spend an hour picking up trash, and receive a certificate good for same-day discounts at local spots, including a free drink at Arcana, half-off a pizza at Beretta, free yoga classes at HAUM and Love Story Yoga, free fries at Beehive Bar and more. All gear is provided.

The Box Shop open house
Explore San Francisco’s largest industrial-art space during the monthly Second Sunday open house. Tour more than 140 murals painted by local artists, stroll through the outdoor sculpture garden, peek inside working artist studios and see where massive public art installations are built.
This month’s Valentine’s Day open house features hands-on activities with artist Alejandra Rassvetaieff, including making Valentine’s cards and crafting paper heart garlands.

Unplug & Play Collective hangout
Check your phone at the door and spend an afternoon connecting with other adults at this phone-free hangout hosted by Unplug & Play Collective, a San Francisco and Oakland-based group that hosts weekly gatherings to promote intentional, in-person connection.
The session includes solo time with analog activities like reading and meditating, open conversation time to meet new people, and a closing gratitude circle. The Commons provides the cozy space for this weekly tech-free gathering focused on genuine connection and presence.

Birding Workshop with Golden Gate Bird Alliance
