Jimmy Butler is coming to the Mission on Thursday with his coffee brand BIGFACE, opening a pop-up called “‘Ciao’ BIGFACE” on the corner of 22nd and Valencia streets at the tech-backed Square “Corner Store.

It will run from Thursday, July 10, through the 27th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Although Butler’s appearance isn’t confirmed, he does like to visit his stores multiple times, according to Desiree Tizon, the head of marketing for BIGFACE.

On Thursday’s opening day, the pop-up will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m,. to coincide with Valencia LIVE!, the night market held the second Thursday of each month from 5 to 10 p.m. between 16th and 19th streets.

The “Ciao” BIGFACE pop-up will have a DJ from 4 to 8 p.m..

The pop-up at the former Lucca’s Italian deli and grocery site will have the brand’s specialty coffee — and the big price tags that come with it. The coffee runs $10 for a pour-over, $9 for a matcha and $8 for a cold brew. Feeling spendy? Pay $100 for a flight and taste of them all.

Add-ons for these drinks will include vanilla, salted caramel and strawberry “infusions,” as well as your choice between oat or dairy milks.

The opening was first reported by Eater SF.

Beyond the BIGFACE menu items, the pop-up will offer items like brewing equipment, apparel and Italian goods (partnering with Carbone for sauce, Graza for olive oil and offering the dried pasta to go with). The blend of items pays homage to the building’s history as Lucca Ravioli Co., according to Tizon.

The building at 1100 Valencia St.has been in flux since Lucca closed in 2019. Its subsequent landlord gutted the space and sat inside the storefront most days, drinking whiskey, listening to the Rolling Stones, and befuddling neighbors. A San Francisco police SUV crashed into the storefront in 2023, destroying its facade and narrowly missing a child.

This is BIGFACE’s first pop-up on the West Coast, following Butler’s mid-season, February trade from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors. The brand’s flagship store remains in Miami.

  1. Eater is a disgusting advert model of things the mainstream doesn’t actually need and it only ruins the gems by exposure at scale. Avoid anything Eater says, it’s years in the past or it’s a paid advert.
