Update, May 7: The Office of the Medical Examiner has identified the victim of the shooting as Keyandre Elijah Bates, a 19-year-old San Francisco resident.ย

A man was shot and killed at a Mission District home on Friday afternoon, police have confirmed.

The shooting occurred on 26th Street at Alabama around 12:48 p.m., according to a police statement, and police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

โ€œOfficers arrived on scene and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound,โ€ the statement said. Paramedics declared the man dead on the scene.

Around 5:30 p.m., a body was carried out of the building as nearly a dozen onlookers gathered outside the home watched โ€” a couple people began to cry.

At the scene, a police officer appeared to confirm the identity of the victim to a woman standing by; after receiving this confirmation, the group left. They declined to comment.

The shooter had apparently left the scene when officers arrived, and no arrests have been made.

If ruled a homicide, this shooting would be the sixth in San Francisco this year.
