Looks like people are staying away from their computers this weekend, no doubt because they’re out at this year’s Bay to Breakers! Which means we can probably expect a torrent of crazy photos once things get started. SF Gate has a quick rundown and map here.

The rest of our news is just sad:
Local kickass artist Rio Yañez reports on a sad departure of a neighborhood stalward – Mission Street video rental and porn palace US Video – in a multimedia presentation complete with animated GIFs (yes!)

And Mission Mission blogger/photographer Ariel Dovas brings word that Borderlands Books hairless cat Ripley has passed away.

Last, one final note. This will be my last Today’s Mission post – it’s been a great pleasure serving the Mission community, but after two years of working at Mission Loc@l as a Berkeley journalism student, I’m moving on to (hopefully) bigger and better things. Keep an eye out for some final pieces in the next few days, and I’ll be shooting a Sunday Mission walk today as well! Say hi!

But it’s ok, because we have Morrissey.

His work history includes being a paper pusher in Los Angeles and a youth program coordinator in Ramallah, and is currently a student editor at Mission Local, which means he gets to read a lot of news and tell people what to do.

He also waits for the day when bacon and buffalo sauce combine on one plate.
