Last weekend’s CubaCaribe Festival at Dance Mission Theater was a feast for the senses: Voluminous skirts swished to the beat of Afro-Caribbean music, drums thumped and dance shoes clacked.

The festival, which began April 12, will run through April 28. Performances presented by Latino and Caribbean musicians and choreographers explore the politics, culture and music of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
