Two men who were described as 28 years old attacked a 19-year-old man at about 1 a.m. Wednesday on Alabama and 19th streets.
The victim was walking when he noticed a vehicle, described as a newer-model white four-door car, approaching. When the car stopped, the victim began running, and one of the suspects got out of the car and chased him down the street. The first suspect tackled the 19-year-old and both suspects went through his pockets.
The two men snatched the victim’s cellphone, his wallet, which had an undisclosed amount of cash, and a debit card, police said.
One of the suspects then got into the car, while the other climbed on the trunk to block the license plate as the car drove away, the victim told police.
The victim suffered a cut to his hand. He refused to go to the hospital.
I’m glad that this crime happened at 19th and Alabama instead of 16th and Alabama. It is kitten season at the SPCA and the kittens’ personalities could have been altered by viewing and hearing such violence.
From now on, census forms should not ask for peoples race. Only their age should be provided.
