Happy Mother’s Day! If you had the good sense to take your mom to Dolores Park on such a beautiful day, you could pick up a bargain at the creme brulee cart.

But let’s take a look at some of the things going on in the Mission next week. OK, it may not be as much fun as the photo exhibit ML@L had last week (thanks again to everyone who came out!), but sure some good times are up for everyone.

Feel like a good story? On Wednesday, head to the Verdi Club for Porchlight SF. This month’s show title is “Pants on Fire: A Show About Lies.” Doors at 7, show at 8, cost at $12.

Intersection for the Arts and theatre company Campo Santo is presenting “Fuku Americanus,” a play based on Junot Diaz’s Pulitzer-prize winning work The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The show runs through June 21.

As the debate about street art goes on, Modern Times Bookstore is hosting Russel Howze, author of Stencil Nation: Graffiti, Community, and Art on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00pm. 500 photos in 192 pages! There’s also a stencil workshop on Saturday, the 16th at 3:00pm.

If you haven’t taken a look at the Roxie’s lineup for this week, it all looks amazing. Of particular interest is Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick’s first feature length works in a double feature!

And also, mushrooms.

Extra Golden is playing at the Elbo Room on Monday night, for those who like international fusion projects their mix of Kenyan Benga and rock music is well worth a listen, and the $10 ticket price at the door.

But then, you’d have to decide whether to see Extra Golden or Toshio Hirano at Free Bluegrass Monday at Amnesia. Free + Bluegrass + Toshio Hirano + Amnesia + FREE = Success.

This Saturday, the long-awaited (at least by this ML@L reporter) Robert Frank’s The Americans exhibit opens at MOMA.
