More than 100 city firefighters had subdued a two-alarm fire at 10 Argent Alley near Market Street on Tuesday morning, as San Francisco was doused by a light rain.

The fire was “under control” as of 10 a.m., the San Francisco Fire Department said. There were no injuries to people but one dog died in the fire, the department said.

There will be three or four people displaced from their units, the department said. One missing cat was later found by firefighters and carried “out of the smoke-filled building.”

The fire crews had extended a ladder from a truck on Market Street into the vicinity of the four-story building, which is tucked away from the thoroughfare, according to fire department video.

The fire was on the third and fourth floors of the building, according to the department. Video showed firefighters in a top unit wielding water hoses. The fire had reached multiple floors, the department said, and the video showed flames down to at least the second floor.

The complex is a 12-unit building, according to city records.

The 3800 block of Market Street was closed in both directions, the department said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
