An unidentified man was shot and killed on Thursday evening in Hunters Point.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire on Thomas Avenue, a largely industrial and secluded street lined by warehouses at the border of the Yosemite Slough near the South Basin waterfront, at 5:11 p.m.

The man, who was described in the San Francisco Police Department’s incident log as Hispanic and 44 years old, was transferred to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

SFPD’s homicide team responded to the shooting and is conducting an investigation. No arrests have been made, but the crime report lists two white males, aged 35 to 40, as suspects.

If deemed a homicide, the shooting would be the 19th in San Francisco so far this year, and the fourth in Bayview — a two-fold increase in homicides in the neighborhood since a historic low last year.

This remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
