A man was shot and killed on Friday evening at Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex, a public housing complex, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The shooting is the second this year at the housing project, an approximately 600-unit hillside complex in the midst of redevelopment. In February, Cornelius Wigfall Jr. was shot and killed, and a child wounded, while he was sitting in his car at 25th and Dakota streets.

According to SFPD, officers responded at approximately 8:38 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the 1100 block of Wisconsin Street, which borders Starr King Elementary School.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics he died at the scene, the department said.

The Potrero Annex Terrace is one of the few remaining public housing complexes in San Francisco and is in the process of being torn down and redeveloped as a mixed-income residence.

This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.

This remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
